Trends - Lexikon: Bowler?
Nicht nur Hippie-Zeit, sondern auch England des 19. Jahrhunderts strömt auf uns von den Laufstegen hinab. So schmückt auch der Bowler wie bei Dior in Paris die Köpfe der Frauen. Die Melone (engl. Bowler = Melone) kommt aus dem England des 19. Jahrhunderts und wurde nach Ihrem Erfinder Thomas William Bowler genant. Im Deutschen wird er auch als Glocke bezeichnet. Er ist stark abgerundet und hat leicht nach oben gebogenen Rand.
